TALL EL-HAMMAM EXCAVATION PROJECT

An Experience Unlike Any Other

TeHEP Events support  the Tall el-Hammam Excavation Project. For over 16 years the Jordan Valley has been yielding pottery sherds, vessels, and artifacts that tell the story written over 2,000 years ago. Testing, analyses, laboratory upgrades, and TeHEP publications to complete our fundraising efforts are ever ongoing. We have to keep 22 years of momentum going! As excavation is finished, we are now focusing our efforts on these important projects with the same intensity as we would bring to a season in the field in Jordan.

OUT OF MY MIND
Dr. STEVEN COLLINS

Podcast

Over my academic and archaeological career, I’ve learned to apply the following 5-fold approach to just about everything: Shrink from no question. Ascertain what the facts are. Consider every relevant line of evidence. Go where the facts converge. Ignore no reasonable conclusion. On any given subject, if you’ve truly done these five things with rigor, honesty, and humility, you can communicate conclusions without concern over what others may think—that is, unless they can provide factual, relevant data that you have yet to consider. Then, you must account for that. Occam’s Razor is a particularly valuable tool for all avenues of science and thought: The best theory of anything is the one that accounts for the most data, requiring the least number of secondary and tertiary hypotheses to support it. Simple. Uncluttered. Elegant.

MUSEUM OF ARCHAEOLOGY

Guided Tours Available

TSUMA features hundreds of ancient objects from the times of Abraham, Moses, David and Solomon, the Hebrew prophets, John the Baptizer and Jesus. Each artifact is linked to a Bible passage, lending a 3-dimensional, tangible reality to the text. Artifacts from the TSU excavation of biblical Sodom (Tall el-Hammam) are on display for the first time.

DIG DEEP 2025

January 2025

Excavation is just the beginning of the archaeological process. The next critical phase involves analysis, research, and publication. This year, we aim to raise $150,000 to support these essential tasks, along with overhead expenses.

Your support will be instrumental in helping the Tall el-Hammam Excavation Project meet its goals as we work to bring our research to completion.

Details about the event coming soon.
